Color Measurement in Printing Industry

At present, in the printing industry, people have developed great interest in measuring with a colorimeter or a spectrophotometer. Since practice has proven that density measurement is important, for the printing industry, only density measurement is not enough. In the past, density measurement has been the most commonly used form of measurement in the printing industry due to the limitations of measuring instruments. Now it is different, with the gradual promotion of new measuring instruments, people have begun to turn their attention to color measurement technology. Colorimetry has been applied to the control of printing processes, such as the control of ink layer thickness.

In the printing industry, the study of colorimetry is useful for understanding color processing, products, and instrument design. Chromaticity measurement has some obvious advantages.

In the printing industry, colorimetric measurement is an extension of the eye's function, but it will never replace the eye, because only the eye has a subjective evaluation function. But the instrument can produce quantified data that can be placed in any accessible location, such as on a press.
